Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 Cruiser is expected to make its global debut next week at EICMA 2026 before going on sale in India

Harley-Davidson’s next motorcycle developed with Hero MotoCorp will move the 440 cc range into cruiser territory. Named Sprint 440, the forthcoming model has now surfaced in production guise revealing substantial differences from the X440 and X440T. Hero MotoCorp will manufacture the motorcycle in India with a world premiere expected at EICMA 2026 on November 3 and its production appears to have commenced as well. Its Indian market entry could take place towards the final stages of of 2026 or in early 2027.

1. Sprint 440 Will Be The Third Hero-Harley 440 Model

The Sprint 440 will expand the joint Hero-Harley plan accompanying the X440 roadster and X440T. The underlying architecture comes from the same 440 cc portfolio but HD has altered the rear section and key chassis bits for the cruiser. Reports also suggest the Sprint could become the first member of this platform to reach overseas markets with Malaysia and the Philippines among the countries likely receiving the motorcycle after its debut.

2. Riding Position Changes

In the Sprint 440, foot controls sit further forward while the handlebar rises higher and sweeps back towards the rider along with the seat sitting much closer to the ground. The heavily recessed saddle will place the rider below the X440’s 805 mm seating position and the revised rear subframe will help achieve the lower profile.

3. Familiar 440 cc Engine

The single-cylinder, 440 cc air- and oil-cooled motor from the X440 fleet is expected to power the Sprint as well. In the X440, it kicks out 27 bhp maximum power and 38 Nm of peak torque, and sends power through a six-speed gearbox. Changes to sprocket ratios or engine calibration could place greater emphasis on low-end response but we don’t expect any massive changes.

4. Chassis, Wheels & Exhaust Receive Major Changes

Upside-down front forks and twin rear shock absorbers feature on the production-spec motorcycle but the rear shocks use a revised mounting angle. As for brakes, disc brakes are fitted at both ends. The front wheel is visibly larger than the rear with earlier reports pointing towards 19-inch and 16-inch sizes respectively. A wide rear tyre and a new exhaust canister with a metallic heat shield will further separate the Sprint from the X440.

5. Styling Closer To Regular Harley Cruiser

Visual links to larger Harley-Davidson cruisers are much stronger here than on either existing 440 model. A low body line, teardrop fuel tank, short rear fender, round LED headlamp and circular indicators set the theme. The mechanical sections use a dark finish and a round instrument display sits close to the handlebar. Harley has also revived the Sprint badge, a name previously used during its Aermacchi association in the 1960s. We expect the prices to hover around Rs. 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
