Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted an intra-UT terror financing module allegedly linked to terrorists lodged in different jails and arrested 10 persons in connection with the case, officials said on Friday.
The module was busted by Shopian Police following an investigation into suspected financial networks linked to terrorist activities, a police spokesperson said.
During the investigation, suspicious online transactions carried out through various payment platforms were analysed, leading to the tracing of money trails across multiple layers, he said.
The investigation revealed a network of individuals allegedly involved in terror financing and having links with terrorists and their associates lodged in different jails, the spokesperson said.
The 10 arrested persons have been identified as Owais Shafi Naikoo, Tajamul Ahmad Shah, Moiz Iqbal, Imdad Yousuf Ganie, Saqib Zahoor Wani, Aamir Ahmad Ganie, Firdous Thokar, Liyaqat Nazir Lone, Mohammad Hanief and Kaju.
A case under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Shopian police station vide FIR No. 231/2026, he said.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly collecting funds from the public and routing the money through established financial channels to facilitate the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), the spokesperson said.
The funds were allegedly being used to provide logistical support, including smartphones, to further terrorist activities.
Further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and establish additional financial links. More arrests are expected, he added.
